Celebrate Asian American, Native Hawaiian & Pacific Islander Month

In honor of Asian American, Native Hawaiian & Pacific Islander Heritage Month, the Miami-Dade County Asian American Advisory Board, under the Office of Community Advocacy, invites you to various celebratory performances and events. No matter when you visit, Miami-Dade County offers countless opportunities to celebrate its rich and diverse communities.

• AANHPI Heritage Month Celebration Kickoff - noon, May 1
  Join the Asian American Advisory Board kickoff presentation at the Stephen P. Clark Center, 111 NW 1st Street, lobby. Enjoy cultural performances and demonstrations representing various nations of Asia.

• Water Lantern Festival - 5 p.m., May 2
  Experience a night you'll remember forever at the Water Lantern Festival, Tropical Park, 7900 SW 40th Street. Buy tickets.

• Japanese Festival - 10:30 a.m., May 3
  Join the Miami Friends of the Garden for the Japanese Festival. Experience setsubun ceremony, cosplay contest, sushi making demonstration, martial arts demonstration, taiko drumming, flute performance, food, music and much more.

• Celebrate with the Miami-Dade Public Library System - 9:30 a.m. - 6 p.m., May 9
  Celebrate Asian American Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander Heritage Month by scavenging for kawaii sticker mystery bags hidden in different areas of the Kendale Lakes Library, 15205 SW 88th Street. • Discover the wonders of Japanese culture! 3 p.m. - 5 p.m. - May 15
  Learn about the great warriors of old Japan and create a 3-dimensional craft helmet that you can wear. • NAMI Walk - 8 a.m., May 16
  Take the walk of your life. Each participant will stand by you and walk by your side, every step of the way. Join the walk at loanDepot Park, 501 Marlins Way. Register today. 

• Celebrate the 35th Annual Asian Culture Festival - May 30-31
  Experience Asian culture in the heart of Miami. Learn and experience different traditions, food, performances, art and much more at Tropical Park, 7900 SW 40th Street. Buy tickets.
